Absolutely delicious burgers at Fat Ronnie’s! . They were doing some kind of photo shoot or promotion and the owner happened to be there when we were there. Really nice, down to earth guy. I would highly recommend these burgers.
The family burger business began in Harlem in 1972, with Ronnie’s grandmother and her self-named burger joint called MAXINE’S. Maxine was the first black female union butcher in the country. From the 1950’s into the early 2000’s, Ronnie’s family owned and operated a number of the top restaurants, bars and butcher shops in Harlem – Maxine’s, Meat Masters, Twenty Two West, Dolls Bar, Jewels Bar to name a few. In 2013, Ronnie continued the family burger business and recipes, with his own burger joint, located on Martha’s Vineyard.

I couldn’t wait to try the burgers at Fat Ronnie’s after hearing so much about them. The restaurant is always jammed packed because it’s very small. My burger was delicious and the sweet potato fries were to die for!!

All I can say is, “Try It”. This is a burger that will not disappoint! Open late at night, too! If you’re not inclined to have a burger, fear not, there are other items on the menu. Try the quarter pound hot dog for fun!
